Is this about right or should I expect better?

Zenos made about £16-20 THOUSAND per student they recieved, and if you got a job or education afterwards even if it was working in McDonalds they would recieve a bonus of £2,500. This is an extreme sum of money... they really had it good now the gravy train has come to a standstill.
The BBC has contacted me regarding this issue. This is why we had reports of students being spoon-fed the awnsers in tests, as they don't recieve there money if you fail.

It is right, but their hand has been massively forced by a sudden change in government legislation so postponement was the only action that could be taken unfortunately.
As you can understand, Zenos is a business, they would much rather have their classes full of students rather than sending them away. Any as for the comments about Zenos spoon feeding answers to tests or else they don't make money : The tests you take do not make the slightest difference to Zenos earning money, if you complete the course and meet the key skills requirements, you are seen to have passed. All the tests you take are given to you for free to try and put you ahead of the rest of the pack when it comes to getting a job in IT. There is a lot of negativity on these forums, if you can't see how having an A+ qualification, the bunch of MTA qualifications and a MS Windows 7 qualification isn't going to help you get a job above those who don't then you're in dreamland. As usual the people who want to complain shout the loudest, look at the ofstead results for Zenos, look at the percentage of people who have left Zenos to go into well paid IT jobs, their numbers dwarf those of colleges and universities all over the country. Unfortunately when you have classes full of 16 year olds a great deal of them assume they know it all and are having their time wasted, those who focus and work hard and act like mature adults will get the best out of Zenos and find a good job. If you're just after a laugh and an easy ride then maybe Zenos, or work just isn't for you. |

Hello,
Administrator, perhaps you are talking about me. We are still very interested in speaking to current, previous and future students of Zenos. I am currently doing some research into the area of youth unemployment and part of that is looking at training schemes. We would like to hear the views from students looking to enter the workforce in a new field. All conversations are strictly confidential. Many thanks, Jasmine [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] Last edited by Jasmine BBC; 01-16-2012 at 04:04 PM. |

So what exactly is happening then? Are we still going to be paid and work experience found for us or are they going to change all this? I was looking forward to starting.

Does anyone actually know what on earth is happening??! I'm still waiting to hear.. I was supposed to start at the beginning of Jan on the 19-24 intake and was told a week before it has been delayed. I have no idea if I should hang about and wait or not? I've read all the articles which don't exactly sound promising, and zenos's responses are vague at best. I left a job of 5 years to start a new career, and thought this a decent way to go as I can't afford college or uni. Hmph. Feel like a complete waste of time at the moment and I've thrown away a perfectly good stable job.. not good!!
Any advice or REAL info (ie. not a newspaper story) anyone? |

I'm hesitant to give advice but in your current situation there isn't an awful lot you can do except wait. I believe Zenos does intend to have another intake but due to changes in legislation it is difficult for them. From what I have heard apprentices must be 'employed' for the duration of their apprenticeship and it has been difficult enough for the previous intake to find jobs as it is.
I recommend you start looking for a job just in case Zenos decides to bail. It should be easier for you to find a job than a lot of other people if you have 5 years of experience. Use your free time to teach yourself what you will be doing on the course anyway as it will make your life easier. |

Hi
Just wanted to add that I am still very interested to speak with students who may have found themselves caught up in the recent postponement. As before, all conversations are strictly confidential. Many thanks, Jasmine |
